Our products
Why are your products frozen?
We snap freeze all our products. Freezing slows the loss of nutrients that happens over time. Therefore, by freezing products as soon as they are made we lock in all the nutrients from the wonderful, fresh ingredients we use. After all, fresh ingredients weren’t designed to sit on a shelf for weeks or months on end. (We’re looking at you - heat-treated, vacuum-sealed supermarket packs). The result? Your little one gets the most nutritious, delicious meals and snacks money can buy*.
(*we think so anyway)
Where do you source your ingredients?
We truly believe that quality, fresh ingredients are key to both delicious tasting food and good health and wellbeing. And we believe in supporting the environment and our Aussie farmers by keeping food local. That’s why we source our ingredients as locally as possible, and also use organic suppliers where we can.
Are your ingredients organic?
Some are. And some aren’t. On purpose. We believe in providing the highest quality ingredients for your little ones, and sourcing organic produce is part of that. Most of our core ingredients (flour, grains, oats and pasta, etc.) are organic. But we also believe in providing local, fresh produce. And we can’t always get both.
Australia has some of the highest food production standards in the world and buying local ensures our produce is as fresh as can be, which means higher nutrient value too. So, we have considered every ingredient and made the choice we feel is best for your little people.
These are the same choices we make for our families, and we stand by them.
Are your products suitable for children with allergies?
We don’t guarantee that our products are suitable for children with allergies.
Unlike many brands who remove all key allergens, we support the current evidence that recommends introducing the most common allergens before 12 months, and then - as long as no allergy is identified - continuing to expose them regularly (twice weekly) as they grow. To make this easier for parents, we use most of these allergens across our product range and label products accordingly. However, because our products are all produced in the same commercial kitchen, it also means that all our products may contain traces of other allergens. We do, of course, maintain very stringent cleaning, sanitising and preparation processes to minimise the risk of cross-contamination. But it may still happen.
Can I buy them instore?
Not yet. But we hope so in the near future! If you haven’t already, sign up to receive our newsletter and then we’ll make sure you’re the first to know if we venture retail-side.
Are you products Halal?
All of our beef, chicken and lamb are Halal and the following meat-based Audrey & Alfie products are Halal suitable:
- Slow Cooked Beef Rendang
- Chicken Nuggets with Hidden Veggies
- Chicken, Roast Pumpkin & Spinach Risotto.
We also have a range of vegetarian and fish-based products which are also Halal suitable.
We are looking to get Audrey & Alfie products Halal Certified in future.
Caring for the people & the environment
How do you care for the environment?
Caring for the environment is really important to us. In life and in business, we try to make choices that support both healthy people and a healthy planet. How? Well, we have made conscious choices to provide recyclable packaging wherever possible, limit the amount of product packaging we use, and provide reusable outer packaging. We also source produce locally wherever possible to minimise food miles, and donate 1c from every product sold to a charity (Bush Heritage) that supports Australian wildlife.
Is your packaging recyclable?
We use packaging that can be recycled or reused wherever possible.
Bowls: Our bowls are fully recyclable and compostable, and the lids and packaging sleeves they are wrapped in are recyclable too.
Finger Food Packets: Our packets may be recyclable via your local soft plastics recycling program. We recommend you check locally.
We are currently exploring other options to reduce the environmental impact of our packets in future too. For example, by converting to plant-made and/or fully recyclable options.
Thermogard gel packs: We chose these gel packs as they don’t contain any chemical nasties or toxic ingredients, which means they can be safely reused (keep in your freezer for your next picnic!). If you’d rather not keep them, you can safely dispose of the gel by pouring it down the sink with 1 tsp of salt, and recycle the film through your local soft plastics recycling program (we recommend you check locally).
You can also empty your gel into your garden for better water retention. The ingredients in thermoguard gel ice packs have been used in plant nurseries for many years. As they are non-toxic they are not harmful to pets.
Chilltainers: And last but certainly not least, our favourite packaging item… the super cool chilltainers (delivery boxes)! We love these, and chose them above many other options as they are made from sustainable paper sources and are home-recyclable. They're also reusable. If you reorder, our drivers will collect your old boxes (provided they are in good condition) to reuse in future. Or you may want to re-use them at home for kids art projects, they make a mean rocket ship!
Why did you select Bush Heritage to donate money to?
We like to make sure our money is going towards charities that are actively working to protect natural Australian flora and fauna.
There are so many charities doing wonderful work in Australia, but Bush Heritage have a strong history and reputation for delivering sustainable impact, and are well aligned to our brand values.
Why do you donate food to Helping Hands?
Helping Hands, is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that provides Emergency Food and Material Aid to Victorian families and individuals in need.
Helping Hands was established in 2007 and currently feeds up to 3000 families each week via them community pantry.
We like to ensure customers receive products which have a long expiry date. We therefore choose to donate any products which are within one month of expiry to the Helping Hands community pantry.
Ordering
How do I get help placing an order?
We’re always here to help. Email hello@audreyandalfie.com.au and one of our super-friendly team will get back to you asap.
Can I change the products in the bundles?
Unfortunately, no. We have chosen our bundles carefully to provide curated product collections for you and your children no matter what stage of life you're in. And, well... unfortunately our IT set up just isn't set up to cope with changes. Of course, we know that sometimes some products in a bundle just won't suit your family. In this case, you are very welcome to order individual products from the wesbite, and please let us know what you do/don't like so we can consider this in future!
How do the subscriptions work?
Simple, really. Instead of getting your phone out, finding the website, choosing products and entering your credit details every week…. we do the hard (kind of) work for you.
Here’s how it works:
1. You find the bundles or products you’d like delivered
2. Click the 'select frequency' drop down box, then choose how frequently you’d like them to arrive and add to cart.
3. We deliver them at the interval you've chosen, like clockwork.
Easy peasy.
Can I buy for a friend?
Of course! All you need to do is decide the type of gift you’d like to give.
Choose from:
1. A once-off bundle. You choose the bundle and we'll deliver it along with a handwritten card. Just make sure you leave a note in the order notes box at check out letting us know it’s a gift.
2. A gift card. Sometimes you might just like them to choose for themselves what they’d like. And that’s fine with us too. Visit our gift card page, choose the dollar amount you’d like to gift and we’ll send an email gift card their way. All our gift cards are valid for 3 years from date of purchase, so they’ll have plenty of time to choose what they’d like.
3. A regular delivery. The ultimate gift of time, love and food. Select any bundle and a subscription frequency of your choice, such as monthly or bi-monthly. And we’ll take care of the rest. Your recipient will receive their regular bundle along with a handwritten card. Just make sure you leave a note in the order notes box at check out letting us know it’s a gift.
You can cancel at any time.
Can I change or cancel my order?
We’ve all done it… placed an order then realised we chose the wrong thing, or chose a delivery in the middle of a holiday (us). That’s why we’ll do our best to accommodate requests to change products or delivery dates. We can’t guarantee it, but we’ll always look into it and help if we can. Email us at hello@audreyandalfie.com.au and we’ll get back to you asap.
Fine print: Unfortunately once the products have been packed and left our frozen storage facility there’s not much we can do (until time travel becomes a reality at least).
Delivery & Returns
How much is delivery?
Our standard delivery fee is $15.99 for metropolitan Melbourne, $19.99 for outer Melbourne suburbs and Sydney and $24.99 for regional Vic and NSW. We offer free delivery on all orders over $150.
Why? Delivery is a huge part of our costs (often costing us more than $20 per order), and as a small, passion-inspired business, we just don’t have the turnover to absorb this in other areas. And we’ll never compromise on product quality or safety. Which means we need to pass some of these costs on to our customers. We’d love to offer free delivery on all our orders. Of course. But unfortunately the sums on that just don’t add up.
How long does delivery take?
Not very long! If you order by 10am, you will usually receive your order the next business day. And if you order after 10am, it will be there in 2 business days. Speedy.
(Note: you can also select a specific day for delivery if you prefer, just use the date picker at checkout to choose your preferred date).
What if I'm not home when it arrives?
No worries! If you’re not home, we’ll leave it in a safe place for you. We leave all our orders packaged in chilltainers in a shady place (whenever possible) with a frozen gel pack inside to keep them cool.
Of course, we recommend getting the products back in the freezer asap to avoid any defrosting, but if you’ve popped out and just missed us… we’ll do everything we can to make sure they’re safe until you get home.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver across Metro Melbourne. If you live outside this area, check your address in the checkout page to see if we can get to you. (And if you're address isn't included yet, send us a message and let us know where you are. We'll try and get there next!)
Do you offer refunds?
As our products are perishable, all sales are final. We can't provide refunds for any change of mind or dislike.
Of course, if you feel your order is incorrect or any other error has occurred, please email us at hello@audreyandalfie.com.au and we may be able to provide a full or partial refund.
You can also read our full refund policy here
